A half-panorama piece done ENTIRELY in Terragen, without any post-processing. It's made up of three 800x600 renders, with the stiching, title, and small border done in Gimp.
The title "Isla Matanceros" is from Michael Crichton's book "The Lost World." The island is one of five, Las Cinco Muertes or The Five Deaths, located 200 miles southwest of the coast of Costa Rica. The red-brown land reminds me of the cliffs of Prince Edward Island in Canada, which provides an interesting mix.
I find the most interesting features to be the 3D clouds and the atmospheric color tones.
Each of the three images took between 10-20 minutes to render on my nVidia TNT2 Riva 64 card and 800mhz Pentium III (woot!).
"It is never explicitly revealed whether all five islands contain dinosaurs, but the boatman in The Lost World strongly implies so." Turns out there were quite a few islands: [link]
Now thats interesting. Sounds like a great plot device they coulda used in a future film. Too bad they didnt use that in the third film which was just terrible.
Wow, this looks so real, not like a digital work at all. The texture and coloring of the cliffs is amazing. I especially like the sky since it looks so clean. Not like the clouds you usually see.
